Exhibition: Wild Inside
Bronze Sculpture artist Jake Mikoda lives and works in Hobart, Tasmania where the unique natural environment provides endless inspiration for the foundry. Here he employs traditional lost-wax casting techniques finished in rich colour patinas to capture the movement, form and spirit of Australia’s native animals and birds.
Spending his early years in Poland, Jake learnt the art of taxidermy prior to developing his skill as a sculptor, moving first to Perth, Western Australia before settling in Tasmania. It was the native Australian wildlife that captured Jake’s attention and where he found his niche as an artist. His extensive background knowledge in animal anatomy, years of sculptural study and hard work have resulted in his ability to capture the character, spirit and fine details of his subjects in bronze.
Jake’s sculptures, ranging from miniatures to monumental, are recognized and collected all over the world.
