EXHIBIT – Jon Kudelka
Jon was the first artist to be part of the WildAir (Wilderness Artist in Resident) program and spent two weeks working in timber.
Jon continued his exploration of pyrography on wood (or “poker work” as its also known) setting himself up in his gallery to draw some of the wildlife around this area.
A majority of the specialty timbers I used are from Hydrowood, a company that retrieved timber from trees submerged in hydroelectric dams.
Jon also exhibited recent works in the gallery with canvases of the bees a reflection of the flowering of the leatherwood. ‘I tried to get the feeling of busyness and joy of this time of year into the paintings.
Part of Jon’s residency was to work on a book of sketches about cradle mountain which will be published in 2018.
