Using her sewing machine, Watkin’s fee-style stitches to create unique and beautiful pieces. Silk and cotton are her preferred materials, which she often hand dyes using leaves and bark found in the natural bush areas of Tasmania.
“I love that my textile artworks are not only a piece of art work to be hung on a wall but that they are a tactile item that can be touch and experienced on different levels, ” she says.
Watkins has won many awards and her work is collected and published around the world. A selection of her recent works are available in the Wilderness Gallery shop.
