Artwork: Flying Swan located in the Dark Room
Shasa is an extraordinary artist and musician who lives in Sheffield, North West Tasmania. He is intrigued with the mechanics of life as seen in his Contraptuary Room in the World of Marbles in Sheffield and in his beautiful work that was commissioned for the Wilderness Gallery.
His Flying Swan, located in The Dark Room (Gallery Five) is made from rivets and filigree Tasmanian timber wings, delicately sculptured by Shasa in his workshop. Visitors are invited to hold down the button to make the bird fly. Flying Swan fits perfectly in this room and brings a strange, delicate and robotic essence to the space.
