Anna Van Stralen
Anna Van Stralen is a painter based in Launceston, Tasmania. Interested primarily in the social and environmental implications of human life on it’s situated landscape, Van Stralen explores the contentious overlapping spaces where human life supporting structures invade, intercept, or traverse natural forms, attempting to invite curiosity and formal harmony, as well as conversations around precariousness, necessity, struggle and conservation. Van Stralen has exhibited work in group and solo shows since 2011, and is a casual Lecturer at the University of Tasmania. She is currently in the process of a PhD in Creative Philosophy at the School of Contemporary Art at Inveresk.
